Scarlett Johansson is an American actor and singer who is born in NYC the city of New York, on November 22nd in 1984. Her performances have earned her acclaim across a wide variety of genres, including the genres of period drama, thrillers and action adventures. Johansson was born in New York City, and was raised there by her producers mother and father, who were both architects. Twin brothers Hunter and her were among the youngest of siblings. As early as age seven, she had already begun making auditions for commercials on television. She entered the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after and attended the Professional Children's School, Manhattan for further training. As a child, she starred alongside Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry and, at the age of nine she made her debut in film on Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson was later seen in Just Cause (1995) but her breakthrough was Manny & Lo (1996) an upcoming film that follows abandoned sisters who escape. For The Horse Whisperer, Johansson was a teenager who suffered an incredibly tragic accident. In Ghost World, 2001 as the outcast teen Rebecca earned her more recognition.
